Tutorial: Dramatic Winged Liner

Here is the tutorial for my latest FOTD. Click here to see the original look. I hope you guys like it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Products Used:

Urban Decay Primer Potion (eye primer)
L'Oreal HIP Black Gel Liner
MAC 208 Brush (angled eyeliner brush)
MAC 219 Brush (pointed pencil brush)
MAC Swiss Chocolate Eye Shadow (reddish brown eye shadow)
Ardell Lacies False Lashes
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Mascara (optional)
Duo Lash Adhesive
Cotton Swap
Makeup Remover

1) Fill in your brows. I used MAC Spiked Eyebrow Pencil and MAC Showstopper Eyeshadow with the MAC 208 Brush. Next, apply UDPP to prevent makeup from creasing.
Photobucket

2) Fill in entire lid with black gel liner. Stop at the fold of your eyes. If you have hooded eyes, you can apply the product a little bit higher so it'll show up more. For a thinner line, don't bring it all the way up to the fold.
Photobucket

3) Draw a slanted line from the outer corner of your eye toward the end of your brow. See the red dots for guidance.
Photobucket

4) Connect the very end of the liner toward the fold of your eyelids.
Photobucket

5) Fill in all the gaps of the liner. Using a makeup remover soaked cotton swab, clean up the edge of the liner so it looks crisp.
Photobucket

6) Curl your lashes and add mascara (optional).
Photobucket

7) Apply your false lashes. I'm using Ardell Lacies. Use whatever style you'd like.
Photobucket

8) Apply MAC Swiss Chocolate Eye Shadow using the MAC 219 Brush on your lower lashline. This step is optional.
Photobucket

9) Ta daaa! You're all done! Now be a camera whore.
Photobucket

The final look and tutorial were done separately so they varied slightly. In the final look, I did apply MAC Club Eye Shadow on top of the liner as well as MAC Soba Eye Shadow in the crease.

FOTD: Dramatic Winged Liner

Hi everyone! So I made a vow to myself that I would stop doing the same ol' boring looks. I do switch up the colors but the style and placement of the colors is still the same. From now on, I will try my best to do unique looks (unless I'm running late, hehe). Any looks you'd like to request? If so, send me a picture to lilmamaj@gmail.com and I will try my best to recreate it for you.

P.S. Please don't forget to enter my latest giveaway. Thanks dolls!

FOTD: Messy Blue

This was supposed to be a messy blue look. Mine wasn't as messy as I had hoped for because I am a blendaholic. I can't help it; I will keep blending for days because I hate harsh lines. Haha anyway hope you like it.

Stylish Blog Award

Thank you Fintia and Jackie for giving me the Stylish Blog Award! I'm so honored.
The rules are to post this on my blog, state 5 random facts about me and award 5 other lovely bloggers with the Stylish Blogger Award.

Here are 5 random facts about me:

1) I'm obsessed with sushi!
It's my absolute favorite type of food. I would eat it everyday if I could. I love the raw stuff more than the fried stuff. My favorites are spicy tuna, raw scallop, unagi, pretty much everything!
2) I sleep with ear plugs on almost every night.
I am a light sleeper and can wake up from any sound. I don't feel fully rested in the morning unless I slept with ear plugs the night before. Since I have a big family, they tend to make a lot of noise in the morning so ear plugs are a must!

3) I'm addicted with Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
I know. This is totally random but I'm in love with hot cheetos. They're the best snack EVER and I could eat them all day. I tend to get carried away so I try to not go down the chip aisle at the supermarket. I love it just by itself or with cream cheese (not nacho cheese). Yummm..oh and I also love all the different version of Flamin' Hot snacks (except the Lays and Frito ones). I've tried them all and I like the original and the Flamin' Hot Funyuns.

4) I love to play sports.
No, seriously. I know I'm perceived as a girly girl but I used to be the biggest tom boy in middle school and parts of high school. I played basketball, volleyball, swam, etc. but I hate running. I joined sports teams but was forced to quit due to conflicting schedules with other extra cirricular activities. So sad.

5) I will rarely turn down a trip to Vegas.
I freaking love it there. I just love how glamorous it makes me feel. I have never had a bad time in Vegas.

Review: MAC 228 Brush

Product Info: "Excellent for applying emollient-based products. This brush has fibers which are slightly round-tipped and firm. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials. They feature birch, linden and ramin wood handles, nickel-plated brass ferrules."

Source: MACCosmetics.com

My Review:
Product: 5 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5
Price: $19.50
Would I buy again? Yes

Initial thoughts: I've had this brush for a while but didn't use it regularly until recently. At first, I thought it was too small to do anything but I will later learn that this tiny brush is a HG item!

PROS:
- Amazing quality
- Great for detail work or smudging eyeliner/shadow
- Easy to clean and travel with

CONS:
- A bit pricey
- Overlooked by many customers
- Harder to sell

Overall:
So I decided to review this brush because it isn't very highly raved or reviewed. The 228 brush is one of the more unknown brushes from MAC. Believe it or not, I didn't know about this brush until I started working at MAC. My HG eye brushes have always been the 217, 219, 224. As you can tell from the picture, the 228 brush is very different from all of the other brushes for a few reasons. First of all, the bristles on the 228 brush are no bigger than half of my pink nail. Most people look past this brush because it doesn't seem to do anything. However, if you're anything like a perfectionist, the 228 can soon become your best friend. Because it is extremely dense, this brush is amazing for smudging out liner (especially on the bottom). It is sturdy and stiff which makes it easy to pack on/smudge colors for detail work. Try using this brush to apply a shimmery light color on your inner corners. I guarantee you'll be amazed. As a lip brush, the 228 is a God-send. All in all, this brush is not one that most people would typically go after but I recommend that you guys check it out! I will definitely do a tutorial on how this brush can be used.

Disclaimer: I was not paid to do this review. I do work for MAC but this brush was bought by me. My opinions are always honest.

Happy Mother's Day!!

"But there’s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother’s story, because hers is where yours begin."

FOTD: Day and Night Look with Gazette Grey

Gazette Grey is such a unique eyeshadow!! It is a greenish grey with tiny gold flecks. I finally got my hands on it before they sold out. It reminds me of a more muted, greyer version of Club eyeshadow.

Q&A

I just wanted to take the time right now to answer some of your questions. If you guys have any more questions, please ask away! Thanks! You guys are awesome!!

Do you normally use a setting powder? Do you see it as a necessity?
Yes, I do use a setting powder after I finish my foundation. I think it's necessary because it does a great job in keeping your makeup lasting longer. It also helps with mattifying shine (I have an oily t-zone that is particularly noticeably in flash photography). The setting powder should be dusted on your face lightly instead of packed on. I like to use a translucent loose powder by Maybelline. MAC makes a great translucent powder and so does Make Up For Ever. I've been using the Maybelline one for a while and haven't had any complaints.

I was wondering if you could give tips on make up in humid locations.

I would say to keep your makeup light and fresh. Fix + is a great product to bring with you to refresh your face throughout the day. I would probably just do a light layer of powder foundation, blush, waterproof mascara and eyeliner and some gloss. The more products you apply, the more it's gonna start melting in high humidity. Stay away from shimmer or glitter because sweat will make it glisten even more.

Do you have any tips for evening out your complexion using a minimal amount of makeup?

I would recommend using a tinted moisturizer. Makeup is for enhancing your beauty, not covering it so I really don't see the need to use heavy foundation on a daily basis (unless you're always being photographed or if you just feel like it, haha). You can mix some loose powder with your moisturizer to make your very own tinted moisturizer. Another option is buying a shade darker for liquid foundation and diluting it with moisturizer. Both are great for evening out complexion without using a lot of products.

I was wondering if you have any tips on getting make-up to stay on longer. I use the eye paints for my eyes and my shadow stays on forever!!
For face, I always use a primer. I opt for one that has silica in it which helps with oil production (since I have an oily t-zone). Another thing to remember is to use the right moisturizer. Everyone needs to moisturize no matter what your skin type is. When I'm doing my foundation, I make sure I take the time to massage the product in so it really gets absorbed. Use a smaller dense brush like the MAC 109 or 168. Avoid paintbrush type brushes (like the MAC 190) because they will just make the product sit on top of your skin and it's going to fade away faster.
