Halloween Costume Ideas: Harajuku Girl

Halloween is only around the corner! I've decided to do a series of Halloween costumes that are affordable and easy to make!

For the Harajuku Girl costume, it's so simple. You just need some random prints and bright colors. You can go crazy and cut it up in any style you want! The clothing here includes a lot of high socks, lacey, knee-high boots, and poofy dresses. It is very rock/punk inspired with lots of buckles and metal accents. Go to places like Goodwill or any other inexpensive thrift store to find affordable and crazy-looking items. You could make this whole costume for less than $20 if you look at the right places! Here are some inspirational photos:

How to Depot Your MAC Eyeshadows

Photobucket

When I first started off with makeup, I had no clue what depotting was! This method I use is very easy and fast; it only take about a minute!

Depotting your makeup and placing them into palettes will help declutter your makeup stash. You can arrange them by texture, color, finishes! It helps keep your makeup organized and makes your eyeshadows travel friendly. Don't forget to save your empties after you depot them because you can trade in 6 MAC empties for a free MAC eyeshadow (freestanding stores), lipstick (freestanding stores), or lipgloss (all locations)! Call your local MAC to see if they accept depotted pots. If they don't, you'll have to buy some empty metal pans.

Things you'll need:

- the MAC eyeshadow(s) you'd like to depot
- a lighted candle
- a pair of tweezers that you don't mind jacking up
- a magnet

That's it!

1) Light your candle. It's easier to use a candle that has a large open surface like the one I've shown.

2) Grab your eyeshadow and place one side of the tweezer on the slit near the opening of the container.

3) Carefully pop up the pan using your tweezer or a butter knife. Be sure to be gentle. You don't want to break your eyeshadow or accidentally hurt yourself.
Photobucket

4) Hold the pan with your tweezers and place it above the flame (not touching the flame). Keep it above the flame for a few seconds until you can see the plastic melting.
Photobucket

5) Poke the hot melted plastic with your tweezer and out comes your newly depotted eyehshadow.

6) Place a magnet on the back of your eyeshadow and place it in your palette. You're all done!

Watermarking pictures

I've got a question for you! Which program do you use to watermark your pictures? I just want to protect the pictures that are mine in case some people decide to use it without giving me proper credit. I don't have Photoshop and can't afford it at the moment so if there are any free, dependable programs that can get the job done, please let me know! Thanks everyone!

My humble MAC collection

Hi guys and girls, I decided to take pictures of my MAC collection to show all of you. Before you scroll down, let me warn you, it is very small!! Keep in mind, this is only the MAC part of the collection. However, I am very happy with it since I do like to keep my makeup stash as small as possible with only stuff I really, really love and need.

Note: not all of the depots in the MAC 15 pan palettes are MAC. Some are NYX and some are Milani but there's about a good 90% that are MAC eyeshadows.

Haul: New Boots

If you know me, you would know that I love boots. They're my weakness (aside from makeup). I think I have about 10 pairs of boots. My favorite pair is the Steve Madden distressed brown Cowboy Boots that are pictured in the post before this one. To me boots can really dress up or down an outfit. Throw on a black leather heel boots and it can instantly transform your outfit and make it look more dressy. If you want to dress your outfit down, something like a pair of flat suede boots can make it more appropriate for casual wear. Plus many boots keep your legs warm and dry, you know, in case you come across heavy rain or snow.

There are so many different styles of boots. There are Uggs (I only recently started to like them), knee-highs, booties, faux leather, real leather, buckled, zippered, buttoned, high heels, flats, designer...The possibilities are endless!

To feed my addiction, I am constantly on the lookout for sales. Recently a friend of my told me about a sale on FamousFootwear.com. On top of the already reduced prices, it was BOGO 1/2 off!! As an added bonus, you get an additional 20% off your entire purchase plus free shipping! I decided to get a brown pair with buckles from Fergilicious and also a grey pair with laces from Steve Madden. Both only cost me $80 (pre-tax) shipped!! Yayy for good deals!
